D-backs claim Adcock from Royals

PHOENIX – The Arizona Diamondbacks (@Dbacks) claimed right-handed pitcher Nate Adcock off waivers from the Kansas City Royals and optioned him to Triple-A Reno, according to D-backs’ Executive Vice President and General Manager Kevin Towers.

Adcock, 25, was 3-4 with a 7.09 ERA (37 ER in 47.0 IP) in 10 games (9 starts) with Triple-A Omaha this season. In 7 Minor League seasons, he is 35-44 with a 4.61 ERA (324 ER in 632.1 IP) in 131 games (117 starts).

The 6-foot-4, 230-pounder has gone 1-4 with 1 save and a 3.79 ERA (40 ER in 95.0 IP) in 36 games (5 starts) with Kansas City from 2011-12. Adcock was originally drafted by the Seattle Mariners in the fifth round of the 2006 First-Year Player Draft.

The D-backs’ 40-man roster is now at 40.
