D-backs claim Tatum from Astros

The Arizona Diamondbacks announced today they have claimed catcher Craig Tatum off waivers from the Houston Astros, according to D-backs' Executive Vice President and General Manager Kevin Towers.

Tatum, 28, hit .245 (17-for-87) with 3 doubles and 7 RBI in 31 games with the Orioles in 2011, and also appeared in 21 games with Triple-A Norfolk. Tatum was claimed by the Astros on October 28, 2011.

Tatum is a career .223 (60-for-269) hitter with 1 home run and 22 RBI in 100 Major League games with the Reds (2009) and Orioles (2010-11). He was originally drafted by the Reds in the third round of the 2004 First-Year Player Draft.

The D-backs' 40-man roster is now at its full complement.
