Putz benefitting from new dietary plan
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- D-backs closer J.J. Putz adjusted his diet this offseason after finding out he, like starter Trevor Cahill, had a food sensitivity to gluten and dairy.
By avoiding those two things, Putz said he dropped nearly 15 pounds without changing his usual workout routine.
"I feel amazing," Putz said. "I'm up at 5:45 a.m., wide awake jumping out of bed. When I lay down to go to bed at 11, I'm out. I don't move when I sleep, I have energy all day."
Putz plans on making the dietary changes permanent.
"It's going to be tougher during the season with the food choices," he said. "Oh, I'll find a way to do it. You just do what you've got to do."
