PHOENIX -- The business of baseball continued for the D-backs on Tuesday as the team went through its usual end-of-the-season organizational review with the coaching staff, scouts and baseball operations officials.
Those meetings were expected to continue Wednesday.
On Monday, Arizona announced that the contract of general manager Dave Stewart would not be renewed for next year and that manager Chip Hale was being dismissed with one year left on his deal.
The fate of chief baseball officer Tony La Russa was less clear, as he and the team continue to discuss what his role might be going forward if he chooses to stay with the organization. La Russa will no longer run the baseball operations department, but he could stay in some sort of advisory role.
The D-backs have not named an interim GM, but it appears that assistant GM Bryan Minniti, who has a wealth of baseball experience, will lead things for now with La Russa possibly remaining to help.
Minniti also figures to be a candidate for the full-time job, while farm director Mike Bell is another internal candidate who could get a look.
D-backs officials have said they will not be commenting while the GM search is ongoing.
