Sore knee keeps Segura out of action

D-backs infielder not expected to miss much time

March 10th, 2016

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- D-backs infielder Jean Segura was scratched from the lineup for Wednesday's 8-4 win over the Padres with soreness on the side of his knee. He is also expected to miss Thursday's game.
The injury to Segura apparently happened during one of his two stolen bases against the Padres on Tuesday at the Peoria Sports Complex.
"The ground over at Peoria is really hard and [he] just aggravated the outside of his knee a little bit," D-backs manager Chip Hale said. "Just felt it this morning, so the trainers and myself just felt it best to pull him out and let him have tomorrow off too. He's seeing the ball pretty well hitting, so we're not so worried about it. Nothing major, just a little sore."

Worth noting
• Outfielder Yasmany Tomas, who was scratched from Monday's lineup with soreness in his left knee, has still not returned to action.
Tomas did, however, take batting practice with his regular group Wednesday.
Hale said he thought Tomas could be back in the lineup soon, but did not specify a day.
• When he signed a Minor League deal with the D-backs last week, Rickie Weeks informed the D-backs that he is now going by Rickie Weeks Jr.
Weeks said he is using the suffix now as a way to honor his father Rickie Weeks Sr. as well as the rest of his family. During the offseason Weeks had a son and named him Rickie Weeks III.
