D-backs look to get over jet lag after Opening Series

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- The D-backs went through a light workout at Salt River Fields on Tuesday after returning from Australia on Sunday afternoon.

The idea was to get the team moving again and shake off the jet lag before Cactus League games resume Wednesday.

The D-backs lost both regular-season games to the Dodgers, and they now have five more exhibition contests before playing regular-season games again beginning next Monday.

It's natural for there to be a letdown for those games, but that is something the team is trying to avoid.

"They need to fight that and we need to stay as sharp as we can," said D-backs bench coach Alan Trammell, who ran Tuesday's workout in manager Kirk Gibson's absence.

A number of players said Tuesday that they were still suffering from some jet lag.

"I'm pretty tired right now still," catcher Miguel Montero said. "Definitely worse coming back. It's just hard to adjust to the timing, your sleeping. I thought I was fine, because I went to sleep at 9 p.m. or 9:30. I thought, 'This is perfect.' But three hours later, I was wide awake."

"It's normal, it's what we expected," said second baseman Aaron Hill. "It's all right, we'll deal with it."
