D-backs undaunted by latest hiccup

PHOENIX -- There have been numerous times this season when it seemed like the D-backs were headed for a bad run that could bury them below the .500 mark, and each time they rebounded to creep back.

Just last week, after dropping the final two games in Pittsburgh, they appeared to be ready for a slide, only to rebound with a four-game sweep in Cincinnati that vaulted them onto the periphery of the National League West race.

It is those memories that help give them the confidence that they will rebound after dropping the first two games of this four-game set against the Cardinals, Tuesday night's 9-1 setback the latest downturn.

"We've been down before where it looked like we could have kind of went on a little bit of a skid, and we did a good job and actually came back a little stronger," D-backs outfielder A.J. Pollock said. "Definitely it's there. We've got a great team."

The D-backs have not looked like one the last two nights. They played sloppy in a 5-3 loss Monday and then made some more miscues on Tuesday.

"We've had two rough games," Pollock said. "But we've got two more and we're definitely capable of getting it going."
