D-backs lose first replay challenge of season

SAN FRANCISCO -- D-backs manager Kirk Gibson challenged his first call of the regular season Thursday night against the Giants, and the skipper is 0-for-1.

Arizona outfielder Tony Campana was called out at second base on a first-inning steal attempt by second-base umpire Jim Reynolds.

Gibson challenged the play, and after review, it was ruled that the play would stand as called, meaning there was not conclusive evidence to overturn the original call.

"I haven't seen it," Gibson said after the game. "The word that I got was [we] thought it was something that was good to challenge. He would have been in scoring position; that's why I did it."

Campana was the final out of the inning.
