Gibson appreciates Bloomquist's energy

SAN FRANCISCO -- Willie Bloomquist plays with an edge and D-backs manager Kirk Gibson likes it.

Since returning from his latest stint on the disabled list, Bloomquist has 13 hits in 24 at-bats (.542) with four RBIs.

"People have doubted what he could do and he's always played with an edge against that," Gibson said. "He's very determined."

Bloomquist was in the starting lineup Thursday night against the Giants and will likely take Friday night's game off.

"He's 100 percent about going all the time," Gibson said. "He feels great but he hasn't played much lately. He plays with a lot of desire and energy."

Bloomquist, who singled in the bottom of the 10th Wednesday night, driving in Adam Eaton to give the D-backs their 13th walk-off win of the season, hit second against the Giants, with Eaton leading off.

"Willie is good hitting behind the runner," Gibson said.
