D-backs option Bergesen to Triple-A Reno

PHOENIX -- The Arizona Diamondbacks announced they have optioned right-handed pitcher Brad Bergesen to Triple-A Reno, according to D-backs’ Executive Vice President & General Manager Kevin Towers.

Bergesen, 26, appeared in 3 games for the D-backs, allowing a run on 4 hits and a walk with 4 strikeouts over 5.0 innings. He reported to the club on July 22 after being claimed by the D-backs on July 20 from the Baltimore Orioles. He had been selected by the Orioles on July 17 from Triple-A Norfolk, where he was 4-3 with a save and 4.03 ERA (36 ER in 80.1 IP) in 22 games (10 starts).

Bergesen, pronounced BURG-uh-sin, has pitched in parts of 4 seasons with the Orioles (2009-11) and D-backs (2012). In 86 career games (59 starts), he is 17-24 with a 4.64 ERA (206 ER in 399.1 IP) and .279 opponents average with 116 walks and 211 strikeouts.
