Inciarte staying grounded despite hot start

SAN DIEGO -- Coming off a Monday night in which he had a pair of doubles, a triple, four RBIs and thew a runner out on the bases, D-backs outfielder Ender Inciarte was quite the hot topic in his native Venezuela.

Inciarte received a lot of attention for his game and a start to the season in which he has a slash line of .393/.414/.571, entering Tuesday's game. It's led to a lot of text messages from friends and family.

"In Venezuela they've been talking about it," Inciarte said. "I'm trying not to think about it, just trying to go day-by-day."

D-backs manager Chip Hale kept Inciarte literally grounded by leaving him out of Tuesday's starting lineup, though, Hale admitted he tossed and turned thinking about it and had him in an original lineup before changing it when he got to Petco Park.

Inciarte, who spent six seasons in the Minor Leagues before breaking through last year, is more than happy to be part of an outfield rotation with David Peralta, A.J. Pollock and Mark Trumbo.

"We've just got to be ready to play, either coming off the bench or starting the game," Inciarte said. "I was happy with the way I played yesterday, and today I'm just going to be ready coming off the bench. So whatever he needs me to do today, tomorrow, or the next day, I'll be ready."
