D-backs recall Ketel Marte from Triple-A Reno, place Nick Ahmed on disabled list

The Arizona Diamondbacks recalled INF Ketel Marte from Triple-A Reno and placed INF Nick Ahmed on the 10-day disabled list with a fractured right hand.

The Arizona Diamondbacks (@Dbacks) recalled INF Ketel Marte (kuh-TELL) from Triple-A Reno and placed INF Nick Ahmed on the 10-day disabled list with a fractured right hand. Marte will wear No. 4 in his first stint with the D-backs.
Marte, 23, leads the Minor Leagues in hits (105) while ranking in triples (T-10th, 7), doubles (T-14th, 23), average (T-17th, .338) and extra-base hits (T-20th, 36). He ranks among Pacific Coast League leaders in doubles (2nd, 23), runs (2nd, 62), total bases (3rd, 160), triples (T-3rd, 7) and average (6th, .338).
In 70 games for the Aces, he is hitting .338 (105-for-311) with 23 doubles, 7 triples, 6 home runs and 41 RBI, including a .342 average vs. righties and .324 average vs. lefties. He is hitting .381 (53-for-139) with 39 RBI with runners on base, including a .310 average (27-for-87) and 29 RBI with runners in scoring position. He was the Aces' Player of the Month for April after hitting .398 (39-for-98) with 7 doubles, 1 triple, 5 RBI and 5 walks in 22 games and followed with a May in which he hit .377 (43-for-114) with 9 doubles, 4 triples, 1 homer, 17 RBI and 9 walks.
He was acquired from the Mariners on Nov. 23, 2016, along with RHP Taijuan Walker. In 176 games over 2 stints with the Mariners (2015-16), he hit .267 (175-for-656) with 35 doubles, 5 triples, 3 homers, 50 RBI and 42 walks.
Ahmed, 27, suffered the injury in the eighth inning last night when he was hit by a pitch from Trevor Rosenthal. Ahmed has appeared in 53 games and hit .251 (42-for-167) with 8 doubles, 1 triple, 6 homers, 21 RBI and 10 walks.
