D-backs Recall Schultz From Triple-A Reno, Option Marte to Reno

PHOENIX - The Arizona Diamondbacks (@Dbacks) recalled right-handed pitcher Bo Schultz (@SchultzBo) from Triple-A Reno and optioned outfielder Alfredo Marte to Reno, as announced by D-backs' Executive Vice President & General Manager Kevin Towers.

Schultz, 28, will wear No. 58. He went 8-7 with a 5.75 ERA (75 ER in 117.1 IP) in 21 starts (8 quality) for Reno. At the time of his promotion, he led the Aces in wins, games started and innings pitched, and recently recorded his first career complete game on July 20 vs. Tacoma in a rain-shortened, 7.0-inning victory.

He made his first Opening Day roster for the Opening Series in Sydney, Australia and recorded a scoreless inning of work vs. Dodgers in his lone appearance with the D-backs this season. He was optioned to Reno on March 29. Over 7 Minor League seasons in the Oakland A's (2008-11) and D-backs' (2012-14) organizations, Schultz has gone 31-25 with 13 saves and a 4.22 ERA (210 ER in 448.0 IP) in 192 games (44 starts). He was signed by Arizona as a Minor League free agent on March 8, 2012.

Marte, 25, played in 16 games over 2 stints (May 2-27 & July 22-29) with Arizona this season and hit .258 (8-for-31) with 1 home run, 3 doubles and 7 RBI. He became the first D-back to hit a grand slam for his first Major League home run during a pinch-hit appearance on July 25 @ Phillies.

The D-backs' 40-man roster is remains at 37.
