D-backs recall Skaggs from Triple-A Reno, option Delgado to Reno

The Arizona Diamondbacks (@Dbacks) recalled left-handed pitcher Tyler Skaggs (@TylerSkaggs37) from Triple-A Reno after optioning right-handed pitcher Randall Delgado (@RandallDelgado) to Reno following last night's game, according to D-backs' Executive Vice President & General Manager Kevin Towers.

Skaggs, 22, most recently started the first game of a doubleheader on May 27 and got the 5-3 win vs. Rangers, tossing 6.0 shutout innings with 3 hits, 3 walks and a career-high 9 strikeouts. He was recalled as the 26th Man for the twinbill and by rule, was optioned to Reno at the conclusion of the doubleheader.

In 9 starts with Triple-A Reno, he was 4-5 with a 5.23 ERA (30 ER in 51.2 IP). In his last 3 starts for the Aces, he went 2-1 with a 2.66 ERA (6 ER in 20.1 IP).

Skaggs was 1-3 with a 5.83 ERA (19 ER in 29.1 IP) in 6 starts with Arizona last season. He earned the win in his Major League debut in the first game of a doubleheader on Aug. 22, 2012 vs. Marlins (2 ER in 6.2 IP).

Delgado, 23, appeared in 1 game for the D-backs, allowing 2 runs in 2.0 innings last night at Cardinals, after being recalled from Reno on June 1 when right-handed pitcher Brandon McCarthy was placed on the disabled list.

Delgado went 1-1 with a 2.16 ERA (4 ER in 16.2 IP) in his last 3 starts for the Aces. In 11 starts overall for Reno, he was 1-4 with a 6.84 ERA (39 ER in 51.1 IP). This is his first stint in the Majors this season. In 2011-12 with the Braves, he appeared in 25 games (24 starts) and went 5-10 with a 3.95 ERA (56 ER in 127.2 IP).
