D-backs reinstate Bloomquist from 15-day Disabled List, place Chavez on 15-Day Disabled List

PHOENIX - The Arizona Diamondbacks (@Dbacks) reinstated infielder Willie Bloomquist (@WillieBloom) from the 15-day disabled list and placed infielder Eric Chavez on the 15-day disabled list with a right oblique strain, according to D-backs' Executive Vice President & General Manager Kevin Towers.

Bloomquist, 35, had been sidelined with a strained right intercostal since Spring Training. In 4 rehab games with Triple-A Reno, he hit .467 (7-for-15) with 4 runs scored, 1 triple, 8 RBI and 1 walk. Entering his third season with Arizona, he has hit .283 (191-for-674) with 91 runs, 31 doubles, 7 triples, 4 homers and 49 RBI in 158 games (153 starts) for the D-backs while seeing action at shortstop, second base, third base, left field and right field.

Chavez, 35, suffered his injury in the first inning yesterday at the Texas Rangers. In 38 games this season, he hit .325 (37-for-114) with 18 runs, 7 doubles, 1 triple, 7 home runs and 25 RBI with .368 on-base and .588 slugging percentages. At the time of his injury, his .394 average since April 28 (min. 50 at-bats) ranked third to Joey Votto (.414), Marco Scutaro (.413) and Yadier Molina (.400) while his .984 fielding pct. (1 error in 67 total chances) ranked fifth among all third basemen (min. 30 games)
