D-backs retiring Big Unit's number as part of promo sked

The D-backs announced their promotional schedule for the 2015 season on Monday, highlighted by the retirement of Randy Johnson's No. 51 uniform, five bobblehead giveaways and theme nights throughout the year.

Johnson will be inducted into the Hall of Fame this summer -- he'll be wearing a D-backs cap on his plaque -- and the club will honor the starting pitcher with a special bobblehead giveaway on July 25, which coincides with Hall of Fame weekend in Cooperstown. The organization will retire his uniform number during a special ceremony on Aug. 8, when Arizona welcomes the Reds.

D-backs Mini Plans go on sale next Monday, allowing fans to secure their seats for these festivities.

The other four bobblehead giveaways include: Hello Kitty on April 11, Josh Collmenter on May 9, Tony La Russa on June 6 and a Star Wars edition A.J. Pollock on July 18.

The team will also give away a number of additional items this season: a Paul Goldschmidt cap on April 25; a D-backs fedora on May 24; socks on July 19; an insulated lunch bag on July 26 and a beer stein on Sept. 12.

The D-backs will play at home on Mother's Day, Father's Day, Independence Day and Labor Day. The Mother's Day game will feature a ladies T-shirt giveaway.

Fans are also invited to a number of theme nights throughout the season: Country Night on April 25; superheroes night on May 22; outdoor recreation night on May 23; Native American Recognition Day on June 20; Star Wars night on July 18; Alumni Day on Aug. 9; Hispanic Heritage Day on Oct. 3.

Also returning in 2015, the D-backs will host postgame fireworks shows following 12 Friday night home games, with a special fireworks night on the Fourth of July when Arizona hosts the Rockies.
