D-backs roll double play as Gibson wins challenge

PHOENIX -- D-backs manager Kirk Gibson won his replay challenge in the sixth inning of Tuesday afternoon's game against the Astros.

With a runner on first and one out in the sixth, Robbie Grossman hit a grounder to first baseman Paul Goldschmidt, who threw to shortstop Chris Owings for the force at second. Owings threw back to first to pitcher Bronson Arroyo, who was covering the bag, and first-base umpire Alan Porter ruled that Grossman was safe.

Gibson jogged out and told Porter he wanted to use his manager's challenge.

After a two-minute, 26-second review, the call was overturned, turning the play into an inning-ending double play.

The Astros had scored a run earlier in the inning to tie the game at 1.
