LOS ANGELES -- The D-backs' streak of consecutive innings without trailing finally came to an end at 97 during Wednesday night's 3-1 win over the Dodgers, which is tied for the second-longest such streak in Major League history.
With runners at first and third and one out in the first inning, Dodgers first baseman Cody Bellinger hit a grounder to second. The D-backs recorded the forceout at second, but Bellinger beat the throw to first as Chris Taylor scored from third to give the Dodgers a 1-0 lead.
According to the Elias Sports Bureau, the 1942 Yankees hold the record with 100 innings without trailing, while the D-backs are now tied for second with the 1947 Brooklyn Dodgers.
"That's a lot more amazing to me than the winning streak," right-hander Zack Greinke said after the D-backs' 12th straight win on Tuesday night. "I didn't even know that was possible. That thing is pretty amazing."
