Tomas lifted with tight left calf as precaution
Hale says D-backs outfielder 'should be fine'
PHOENIX -- D-backs right fielder Yasmany Tomas left Tuesday night's 13-1 victory over the Phillies with tightness in his left calf.
Tomas was lifted for Ender Inciarte at the beginning of the third inning for precautionary reasons. Tomas had contributed to Arizona's 11-run rally in the second, pitching in with two of the team's club-record 10 hits in the frame.
D-backs manager Chip Hale said Tomas tweaked the calf when he was running the bases during that inning. He said he's unsure if Tomas will be able to play Wednesday, but doesn't see it as a long-term concern.
"Should be fine," Hale said. "There was nothing pulled, nothing strained, it was just a little bit tight, so we wanted to get him out of there."
Tomas singled to open the second and scored on Chris Owings' two-run double. He then followed up David Peralta's grand slam with a double, scoring on Aaron Hill's homer.
It was the second straight game Tomas started after he didn't start during the three-game series against the Reds over the weekend, which Hale said was for matchup reasons.
