MIAMI -- As the July 31 non-waiver Trade Deadline nears, one name that could pick up steam is Marlins starter Dan Straily.
Miami is exploring trade possibilities for the 28-year-old right-hander, and one key reason he's attractive is that he's under team control through 2020.
Straily is having one of his best seasons and could help a contending team this year. He's 7-6 with a 3.84 ERA, is striking out 8.2 batters per nine innings and boasts an improved command that has led to a career-low 2.5 walks per nine.
Scheduled to start against Cincinnati, his former team, on Sunday, Straily said he's simply focused on playing in Miami.
"I'm a member of the Miami Marlins," he said. "I'm here. Until I'm gone, I'm here."
Several teams are also interested in reliever AJ Ramos, who is viewed by clubs as a setup guy rather than a closer.

In 39 appearances, the 30-year-old owns a 3.76 ERA and has 19 saves in 21 opportunities. Entering Thursday's action, Ramos had a 4.50 ERA in 10 July appearances.
It's no surprise the Marlins are listening on Ramos. Reliever David Phelps was dealt to the Mariners a week ago for four prospects. Ramos, who owns a career 2.79 ERA in six seasons in Miami, could net a similar or bigger haul.
Prado could require surgery
Martin Prado could need surgery on his right knee, Marlins manager Don Mattingly said. The third baseman suffered a right knee strain July 17 against the Phillies and has been on the disabled list since.
"No real progress," Mattingly said. "He's not really moving forward."
