CINCINNATI -- Daniel Wright will make his second start of the season when the Reds begin a three-city, nine-game road trip on Monday against the Braves. Wright will take the spot of Alfredo Simon, Reds manager Bryan Price announced Saturday.
Wright, 25, has appeared in three games since his contract was selected from Triple-A Louisville on May 24 as an injury replacement for Tim Adleman (left oblique). Wright started in his Major League debut against the Dodgers on the road and went 5 1/3 innings, allowing seven hits and four runs, three of which were earned, with one walk and four strikeouts.
Wright's last two outings have come out of the bullpen, both in relief of Jon Moscot after his early struggles. Wright pitched a total of 4 2/3 innings over his two relief appearances, giving up five earned runs on 12 hits. 
Wright was 1-0 with a 1.29 ERA in two starts for Louisville, and he had a 0.79 ERA in 10 appearances this season between Double-A and Triple-A. He was chosen by the Reds in the 10th round of the 2013 Draft.
"Initially, he was brought up to start," Price said. "As things came about, our rotation solidified with [John] Lamb throwing the ball well, and I really felt like I wanted to run with Simon a little bit. [Simon] had that nice game in Colorado, so Dan didn't slot back in the next time through the rotation. We brought him up to start, to fill that hole, so he's going to get that opportunity to make that start on Monday and we'll see where we go from there."
Simon is 2-6 with a 9.11 ERA over 12 appearances this season, 11 of which were starts. He has pitched more than five innings just three times.
"We also knew that Alfredo really needed to go to the bullpen and get things ironed out," Price said. "We needed a starter, and I think Dan's best suited right now with what we have currently to make that start."
The Reds are opting to keep top prospects Robert Stephenson and Cody Reed in Triple-A for the time being. Price said two weeks ago that both are possible options to join the staff, as the Reds continue to monitor their development. Stephenson is 2-0 with a 3.00 ERA in two starts for the Reds this season.
• Billy Hamilton's stay on the seven-day concussion disabled list could last a little longer than a week.
"You can't fake your way through it," Price said. "We didn't want him to feel like there was some sort of pressing responsibility. You can't force a rehab from a concussion like you could from a different type of injury."
Tyler Holt will get the bulk of the playing time in Hamilton's absence, with Steve Selsky as backup in center field.
