Espinosa due to join wife for birth of first child

WASHINGTON -- After he plays against the Mets on Wednesday at Nationals Park, Nationals shortstop is planning to fly to California to be with his wife, Sara, who is due to give birth to the couple's first child.
Ty Daniel Espinosa is expected to join the happy couple the following morning. Washington has an off-day Thursday, but it's not known if Espinosa will miss any games when the Nationals play the Braves in Atlanta.
"I'm very happy," Espinosa said. "It takes some relief off my shoulders. The past month and a half, not having seen my wife and dogs. It will take some relief off of me, knowing she is all right and knowing that the baby is finally born, safe, healthy and doing alright."
Espinosa is hoping his family can rejoin him once the Nationals are in the postseason.
"It will be based on when [Ty] can get the vaccinations and travel," Espinosa said. "If we go to the playoffs and we play the Dodgers or the Giants, it will make it a lot easier. After the baby is born, he will have both our parents. That would be pretty cool to have him there."
