The Sacramento River Cats, the Giants' Triple-A affiliate, named Dave Brundage the team's new manager on Thursday.
Brundage, 52, takes over for Jose Alguacil, who was promoted to the big leagues as the Giants' first-base coach last month. The rest of the River Cats' coaching and training staff will remain intact for 2017.
Brundage joins the Giants' organization with nearly 19 years of managerial experience in the Minor Leagues. He spent the last four years with the International League's Lehigh Valley IronPigs (Phillies), and in 2016, he guided them to an 85-58 finish for the second-best record among Triple-A teams.
Brundage owns a 1,371-1,315 (.510) career record and a 793-781 (.504) mark while managing in Triple-A, where his previous stops include the Richmond/Gwinnett Braves (2007-12) and the Tacoma Rainiers ('06).
A fourth-round Draft pick out of Oregon State in 1986, Brundage played 10 seasons in the Minors with the Phillies and Mariners organizations.
