Report: D. Martinez to interview for LA manager job
Current Cubs bench coach will be ninth and final candidate
BOCA RATON, Fla. -- The Dodgers will conclude the first round of manager candidate interviews this week with Cubs bench coach Dave Martinez, according to a report.
President of baseball operations Andrew Friedman has not commented on the process, but Martinez will be the ninth candidate he's interviewed. Martinez coached with Tampa Bay when Friedman ran the Rays.
Friedman said as recently as Monday that he expects to have a manager in place before next month's Winter Meetings in Nashville, Tenn.
In addition to Martinez, the Dodgers are known to have talked to internal candidates Gabe Kapler, Ron Roenicke and Tim Wallach, and outside candidates Dave Roberts, Kirk Gibson, Bud Black, Bob Geren and Darin Erstad.
The list will be trimmed to three finalists, according to a tweet from the New York Post.
