TORONTO -- David Price's frosty relationship with the Boston media took another unfortunate turn on the team charter to Toronto late Thursday night, when the lefty was involved in a verbal spat with NESN broadcaster and Hall of Fame closer Dennis Eckersley.
Red Sox manager John Farrell confirmed the incident, which was first reported by The Boston Globe, after his team pulled out a 7-4, 11-inning victory over the Blue Jays. A source told MLB.com's Jon Paul Morosi that Price confronted Eckersley over something the broadcaster said about one of the left-hander's Red Sox teammates.
Farrell had a conversation with Price about the argument with Eckersley prior to Friday's game.
"We did," Farrell said. "And regarding the incident last night, that's being handled internally."
Asked a follow-up question, Farrell again chose not to elaborate and didn't say whether the team disciplined Price. Farrell added that Price will make his next scheduled start, which will likely be Tuesday in Texas.
While Eckersley is known for being candid on the air, it is unclear what he said or did to offend Price, who turned in a solid start on Thursday night against the Twins, giving up three runs over seven innings in a win.

The incident comes on the heels of Price shouting at a reporter in the Red Sox's clubhouse at Yankee Stadium and swearing at two others after a game on June 7.
Price started the season on the disabled list with a left elbow strain. He is 3-2 with a 4.61 ERA in seven starts.
