Price breaks ground on 'Miracle Field' in hometown

BOSTON -- Red Sox fans will soon see up close that ace David Price is as passionate about community endeavors as he is about pitching. On Thursday, the lefty and his Project One Foundation broke ground on a new "Miracle Field" in his hometown of Murfreesboro, Tenn.
Price took part in the groundbreaking at McKnight Park, which is fittingly where the ace played his first games as a child.
Miracle Fields are rubberized baseball fields designed for children and young adults with special needs.
Price's foundation funded a similar field in Tampa, Fla., during Price's time with the Rays.
In addition to the rubberized diamond, which has a cushioned surface that makes it easier to maneuver on wheelchairs and walkers, the new complex will include a practice field and a playground designed to eliminate barriers for children with disabilities.
Price's nonprofit foundation focuses its efforts in the mid-Tennessee area.
