Rehab stint complete, Wright to join Mets in Philly
Matz scheduled to make third rehab start Wednesday for Double-A
DENVER -- David Wright went 0-for-4 with an RBI Saturday for Class A Advanced St. Lucie, in what Mets officials have indicated will be his final Minor League rehab game. Wright is due to rejoin the Mets for their series opener Monday in Philadelphia.
Over his eight-game rehab stint, Wright hit .321 with five walks and no extra-base hits. He committed three errors in seven games at third base.
Mets manager Terry Collins has said that Wright will not be an everyday player upon his return, given the team's desire to keep him healthy. The Mets' third baseman, captain and longest-tenured player has spent the past four months working his way back from spinal stenosis.
• Steven Matz will stretch out to approximately 60 pitches in his third Minor League rehab start, set for Wednesday at Double-A Binghamton. Matz, who has been on the disabled list since July 6 due to a left lat strain, could rejoin the Mets as soon as rosters expand six days after that.
