Davis to head to Double-A Bowie for rehab stint

BALTIMORE -- Chris Davis took batting practice before Friday's game, crushing a number of pitches throughout Oriole Park, and the first baseman will head to Double-A Bowie on Saturday for a rehab assignment and be re-evaluated Sunday.

Davis (strained left oblique), who looked a lot like his former self, is eligible to come off the disabled list Sunday.

"I've been told I've recovered quickly and that everything's going about as good as it could," Davis said before the Orioles' game on Friday. "It's tough to sit around and watch these guys play, even though they're winning."

Davis said he's now feeling better than he's felt all year.

"I felt better yesterday than I've felt in a really long time," Davis said.
