PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. -- Dee Gordon's RBI single held up Tuesday at Tradition Field, leading the Marlins to a 1-0 win over a Mets team that is winless (0-9-3) in its last 12 Grapefruit League games.
A late replacement for Matt Harvey, who recently passed a clot in his bladder Mets starter Sean Gilmartin allowed little more than Gordon's run-scoring single to center field in the third. But it was enough. Marlins starter Chris Narveson delivered three shutout innings, giving way to perfect efforts from Dustin McGowan, Paul Clemens, Brad Hand and Cody Ege.

"Obviously, when you throw a shutout, guys are throwing the ball pretty well," Marlins manager Don Mattingly said.
Offensively, the Marlins did not fare much better than the Mets, though Martin Prado collected two hits, including a double. The Marlins had been rained out in three of their previous four games, so Tuesday was a chance to give most of their regulars four at-bats.

"It's just getting them back out there now," Mattingly said. "We've planned on these last four, five days, being heavy days for playing time. Rain didn't help that. We've got to get guys out there and hopefully find their rhythm before the season starts."

"They're always a tough lineup," Gilmartin said. "I thought last year, too, they always had a pretty good team. I think they're going to be one of the teams to look out for this year in our division. So going out there and facing that lineup, it's not really an easy task."
The Mets wrap up their Grapefruit League schedule Wednesday, attempting to win their first game since March 17.
"Not really," manager Terry Collins said when asked if he cared about the Mets' record. "I don't know how to reiterate it: They don't count. Whether we're 21-1 or 1-21, they don't count. And starting April 3, they mean something. So we've just got to go through the process of guys doing their work and getting themselves ready for the season, and ultimately, that's what we've got to look at as the main goal here."

Up next for the Marlins: The Marlins close out their stay at Roger Dean Stadium on Wednesday with a 1:05 ET game against the Cardinals. Miami is the home team. David Phelps, who projects to be a long reliever in the regular season, is the scheduled starter, and most of the regulars are scheduled to play. St. Louis is going with right-hander Michael Wacha. Up next for the Mets: After his blood clot scare earlier this week, Matt Harvey will tune up for Opening Night when the Mets close out their Grapefruit League slate with a 12:10 p.m. ET game Wednesday against the Nationals. Harvey is scheduled to pitch the first two innings, before originally scheduled starter Noah Syndergaard enters in relief. Those two will pitch opposite Nationals ace Max Scherzer.
