The first weekend of summer continues today with several of MLB's top arms ready to supply their own heat.
Jacob deGrom toes the rubber for the Mets, who look to continue climbing up the National League East standings against the Braves, while Madison Bumgarner tries to continue his stellar season as the Giants face the Phillies.
Several hot teams look to remain that way, with the Indians and Astros bringing long winning streaks into action, while others such as the Rays and Nationals hope to start heating up.
Those games, plus a day-night doubleheader between the Rays and Orioles are part of a full slate of 16 games streaming live on MLB.TV.
MLB.TV Premium has returned with the same features as last year, and is only $99.99 for the rest of the season. This package has the best value and provides access to more than 400 devices and a free subscription to the MLB.com At Bat Premium app (a $19.99 value). It offers the best picture quality ever -- a new 60 frames per second -- for supported devices. Monthly signups for MLB.TV Premium are now underway as well for $24.99.
The new MLB.TV Single Team package is also now available as an $79.99 yearly subscription. You can watch a single team's live out-of-market games in full HD.
Here is a look at what to watch for today in the Majors (all times ET):
Duel of young aces: NYM @ ATL, 7:15 p.m.
The Mets righted the ship Friday against the Braves, who had won four straight against their division rival. Today's matchup should be a low-scoring affair with two of the game's top young arms on display in deGrom (3-4, 2.86) and Atlanta's Julio Teheran (3-7, 2.66).
The two matched up in their last start, a 6-0 Atlanta win in which Teheran tossed a one-hit shutout with seven strikeouts. deGrom has a 2.25 ERA in seven career starts against the Braves.
Stat that matters: deGrom has 50 strikeouts and just eight walks in 44 career innings against Atlanta.
Bum on the bump: PHI @ SF, 10:05 p.m.
Bumgarner has been nothing short of dominant all season, even in losing efforts like his last start -- a 1-0 complete-game loss against Pittsburgh in which he fanned eight.
Bumgarner is making his first start of the season against the Phillies, who counter with right-hander Aaron Nola. Nola looks to rebound after three consecutive starts in which he's failed to get through the fourth inning. His ERA is 15.83 during that stretch.
Stat that matters: Bumgarner is 4-2 with a 3.14 ERA in seven career starts against the Phillies.
MLB.TV Premium subscribers get the Mosaic View -- split screen or quad, available on PC or Mac only. That always comes in handy, especially when scoreboard-watching looms. MLB.TV Premium and MLB.TV Single Team subscribers both enjoy HD and both will get real-time highlights and player stats automatically loaded moments after they occur (only for the game you are watching with MLB.TV Single Team, and for all games with MLB.TV Premium).
