Delaware North Sportservice seeking additional non-profit groups for fundraising at Comerica Park

Sportservice program gives community organizations opportunity to raise funds by operating concessions during Tigers home games

Delaware North Companies Sportservice, the food and retail provider for the Major League Baseball's Detroit Tigers at Comerica Park, is seeking additional non-profit organizations to participate in its fundraising program during the 2013 baseball season.

Sportservice is actively recruiting civic organizations, high-school boosters, churches and other non-profit groups to operate concessions at the stadium to raise funds for their respective organizations.

"Groups in metro Detroit might be unaware that they have the opportunity to participate, even if they cannot begin in time for Opening Day," said Robert Thormeier, general manager for Sportservice at Comerica Park. "We continue to recruit non-profit organizations throughout the season."

Groups are required to cover at least 10 home games during the season.

Sportservice donated more than $1 million dollars for local non-profit groups during the 2012 season and playoff run, Thormeier said. The number of volunteers, type of concessions, and stadium attendance all affect the amount of money that a group can raise, he added.

"The program is an effective and attractive way for organizations to raise money without having to risk investing funds up front," Thormeier said.

Any interested charitable organization or non-profit group may contact Anitra Redding at (313) 471-2608 or [email protected] for more information.

Delaware North Companies Sportservice has a long tradition of working with its team partners to assist charitable and other non-profit groups in raising money for their organizations and communities. Sportservice's fundraising program began 20 years ago and donates between $10 and $15 million each year for non-profit groups at venues across the country.
