Holland feels good about latest rehab outing

ARLINGTON -- Left-hander Derek Holland, on the disabled list with a strained muscle in his left shoulder, rejoined the Rangers on Wednesday after throwing 55 pitches in two-plus innings for Triple-A Round Rock on Tuesday.

Holland, in his second rehab start, allowed two runs (one earned) on three hits and three walks with three strikeouts. He faced four batters in the third inning, walking three and having one reach on an error before coming out of the game. His fastball was clocked at 93-95 mph.

"Overall, it was really good," Holland said. "Too many walks but I was trying to establish my offspeed stuff. Everything feels comfortable and smooth. I'm not a guy who looks at line scores. I'm trying to get work done and compete, trying to help those guys win a game. But when I get up here, I have to have everything working."

Holland will get at least two more rehab outings before the Rangers consider bringing him back to the big leagues. He is scheduled to pitch Sunday at Double A Frisco with the target being 70-75 pitches.
