D-backs President & CEO Derrick Hall to lead participation in "Let Your Humankindness Grow"

PHOENIX -Arizona Diamondbacks (@Dbacks) President & CEO Derrick Hall (@DHallDbacks) and Special Assistants to the President & CEO Luis Gonzalez and J.J. Putz (@JJPutz40), along with numerous D-backs employees, have teamed up with Dignity Health to participate in "Let Your Humankindness Grow" in honor of national Prostate Cancer Awareness Month and to support many areas of men's health.

Starting today, Hall, Gonzalez, Putz and employees will "Let Your Humankindness Grow" and not shave between Nov. 1 and Nov. 30 but instead encourage everyone to make a donation to support men's health programs. Donations will be accepted through the St. Joseph's Foundation at supportstjosephs.org/noshave.

"As a prostate cancer survivor, the cause is particularly important to me," said Hall. "I encourage everyone to not shave throughout November and instead make a donation to our partners at St. Joseph's Hospital so we can further advance research to eradicate men's cancer."

In 2011, Hall was diagnosed with prostate cancer at the young age of 42. Within days, Hall began using his platform as one of the state's most influential business leaders to encourage all men to get tested after age 40, as his early diagnosis led to his successful surgery and treatment, as well as a current clean bill of health. He continues to serve as an outspoken advocate during his subsequent treatment in an effort to encourage men to get a prostate cancer screening. In 2014 he launched the Derrick Hall Pro-State Foundation which is dedicated to serving as a comprehensive tool for those who have been diagnosed with prostate cancer and their families to help them understand the challenges and choices they face and how they can maintain a "pro" state of mind.

The D-backs will share updates from Hall, Gonzalez and Putz on social media throughout the month and will encourage fans to join in "Let Your Humankindness Grow" and make a donation.
