Two of the New York Mets' top picks from the 2015 Draft shined on Friday night as outfielder Desmond Lindsay and left-hander Thomas Szapucki led Class A Short Season Brooklyn to a 14-7 win over West Virginia.
Lindsay, the Mets' No. 6 prospect, was the offensive star for the Cyclones, as he went 3-for-5 at the plate with a home run and a double on the way to a career-best seven RBIs.
After Lindsay grounded out in his first at-bat, the Mets' 2015 second-rounder connected on a three-run home run, his third long ball of the season, in the bottom of the third inning to give Brooklyn the lead. He delivered a run-scoring single in the subsequent frame and then made it a career game by hitting a bases-clearing double as part of the Cyclones' eight-run outburst in the bottom of the eighth inning.

Lindsay's multi-hit performance was his third in as many games and improved his average to .364 through 14 games for Brooklyn. During that stretch, he's tallied six extra-base hits and 11 RBIs while registering as many walks as strikeouts.
As for Szapucki, he picked up the win for Brooklyn while recording double-digit strikeouts for a third straight start. The 20-year-old southpaw, whom the Mets drafted in the fifth round in 2015, fanned 10 of the 22 hitters he faced over 5 1/3 innings, throwing 60 of his 93 pitches for strikes. However, it was still an inconsistent outing overall for the Mets' No. 8 prospect, who yielded a season-high four earned runs on three hits and three walks while also hitting two batters.

With 10 more punchouts on Friday, Szapucki has now fanned 86 batters this season in 52 innings (nine starts) between Rookie-level Kingsport and Brooklyn. The four earned runs he allowed matched the total he'd given up across his previous eight starts and raised his overall ERA to 1.38 from 0.77. Opposing hitters, meanwhile, have collected just 26 knocks against the left-hander, two of which have left the park.
