LOS ANGELES -- The D-backs extended their winning streak to a franchise-record-tying 12 games with a 3-1 victory over the Dodgers in 10 innings on Tuesday night at Dodger Stadium.
"It validates a lot of the hard work that we're doing," D-backs manager Torey Lovullo said of the winning streak. "These players are doing everything that they can possibly do on a nightly basis to make sure that they're putting themselves in position to win the game."
After righty Pedro Baez walked the first two batters of the 10th, Arizona cashed in when Brandon Drury hit a chopper third baseman Justin Turner. Turner's throw home deflected off Chris Herrmann's shoulder and got away from catcher Yasmani Grandal for an error, allowing Herrmann and A.J. Pollock to score.
Fernando Rodney worked around a pinch-hit single by Corey Seager in the 10th as the D-backs matched the franchise-record 12-game winning streak set by Bob Brenly's 2003 squad. Arizona hasn't trailed in 97 straight innings, which is tied with the 1947 Brooklyn Dodgers for the second-longest streak in Major League history.

"When things are going well, stuff happens, and good ballclubs know how to win games and you take them," Pollock said. "Because a couple of weeks ago we were having games like this where things weren't falling."
The Dodgers have lost five straight and 10 of their last 11, but they still hold an 11 1/2-game lead in the National League West. The D-backs lead the NL Wild Card race by 6 1/2 games over the Rockies, and they've secured their first season-series win over the Dodgers since 2013.
Daniel Descalso's RBI double in the fourth gave the D-backs a 1-0 lead, but Grandal broke up Zack Greinke's no-hitter in the fifth with a leadoff homer to tie the ballgame at 1-1. Grandal's homer also marked the first long ball Greinke has allowed since Aug. 9. Greinke went seven innings, allowing the one run on four hits while striking out six.

After giving up a season-high six runs the last time he faced the D-backs, Dodgers left-hander Hyun-Jin Ryu bounced back by holding them to one run on six hits and five walks through six innings, striking out seven.
"I thought Ryu came out and pitched really well for us," Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said. "Zack matched him pitch for pitch, we really couldn't muster anything outside that home run ball from Yasmani. The scoring opportunities really are not presenting themselves. You just got to continue to grind and make our own breaks."

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
Bringing home:J.D. Martinez didn't match his four-homer effort from a night before, but his bat still helped. The D-backs' slugger hit a one-out double in the fourth and, after Drury walked, scored on Descalso's double off the left-field wall.

Not on A.J.: The Dodgers were poised to rally after Chris Taylor's leadoff single in the ninth. Curtis Granderson lifted a fly ball deep to the warning track in the next at-bat, but Taylor decided to tag up after Pollock made the catch, but the D-backs center fielder threw out Taylor at second. After David Hernandez got Turner on a groundout, the inning was over and the stage was set for the D-backs' game-winning rally.
"Just trying to get behind the ball a little bit," Pollock said. "With the crowd here, you can't really hear anything. You can't really hear your right fielder telling you if he's tagging or not, so [I] just stayed behind it and was able to make a low throw and get that good hop and Marte put a great tag on him."

Dodgers outfielder Cody Bellinger was ruled safe when he attempted to steal second base in the seventh inning. The D-backs issued a manager's challenge, and the call was overturned after a brief review.

WHAT'S NEXT
D-backs:Taijuan Walker will start the series finale against the Dodgers on Wednesday night at 7:10 p.m. MST at Dodger Stadium. Walker is on quite a roll of late, compiling a 0.54 ERA over his last three starts.
Dodgers: The Dodgers end their series against the D-backs with Kenta Maeda on the mound for the 7:10 p.m. PT start on Wednesday. The last time Maeda faced the D-backs, the righty allowed eight hits and seven runs.
