DENVER -- The D-backs will dedicate their Sept. 16-17 home games to raising awareness and funds for the pediatric cancer center at Phoenix Children's Hospital in conjunction with September's Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.
Major League Baseball dedicated Friday to "Childhood Cancer Awareness Day" at all MLB parks, but with the D-backs on the road in Denver, they will recognize it later in the month. Players and coaches wore gold wristbands in Friday night's game to show their support.
Together on Sept. 16 and 17, the D-backs and Phoenix Children's Hospital will encourage fans to "Go Gold" and will welcome a special group of cancer warriors from PCH's Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders to participate in various ballpark and baseball experiences.
The experiences will include a special check presentation to the PCH Foundation, PCH kids in gold jerseys taking the field with D-backs players, lineup card delivery and the seventh-inning stretch.
