Dirks to resume rehab assignment after day off

NEW YORK -- The Tigers are expecting Andy Dirks to continue his Minor League rehab assignment with Triple-A Toledo on Thursday night.

Dirks was removed from his start at Class A West Michigan during the fourth inning Tuesday after he felt his left hamstring grab while chasing down a fly ball.

The Tigers don't consider the issue overly concerning, as manager Brad Ausmus said Dirks will continue playing "unless the hamstring ends up more sore than expected."

Dirks is recovering from back surgery and hasn't played in the big leagues this season. He began the rehab assignment on Friday.
