Dizziness forces early exit for Marte
PITTSBURGH -- Left fielder Starling Marte left Saturday night's game after three innings, suffering from what the team called "severe dizziness."
Marte received treatment as the game with the Cardinals continued, with Sean Rodriguez taking over in left field.
"He mentioned something before [his second] at-bat, but he felt good enough to take it and thought it might pass," manager Clint Hurdle said after the Bucs' 7-5 victory. "After he came back, it hadn't passed. In fact, it intensified.
"We'll monitor him through the night and see how he shows up [on Sunday], and where we take it."
Marte appeared to take a bad route on a second-inning drive by Jason Heyward that went for a double -- setting up a triple play on the next pitch, to Yadier Molina.
Marte struck out in both of his at-bats, in the first and third innings.
