ARLINGTON -- Do It For Durrett wants to see what kind of talent there is in the Metroplex.

The Do It For Durrett Foundation, which is dedicated to honoring how sports reporter Richard Durrett lived, has decided to branch out for Do It for Durrett Texas' Got Talent, mixing baseball and music to find out who in the Metroplex has top talent. Tickets for the event are on sale now at doitfordurrett.com.

The Do It For Durrett Texas' Got Talent event, which takes place at 7 p.m. June 23 in the Cholula Porch overlooking Globe Life Park, will feature surprise performances from some names you've heard of and others you haven't as of yet.

The public can send in a 30-second video clip to [email protected]. A select few will have a chance to perform at the event alongside people you've heard of or seen before. There will be judges and prizes too, with Texas country star Randy Rogers and Texas Rangers pitcher Colby Lewis and Holland among the judges. Chuck Morgan, the voice of the Rangers, will emcee the event.

There will also be live and silent auctions as well as the auctioning off of dates with the likes of Holland and Rangers outfielder Delino DeShields.

"We're trying something new," Do It For Durrett President Emily Jones said. "Everyone thinks they've got some talent. Just look at me. At least year's Do It for Durrett 80s Night I got on stage and sang a Vanilla Ice tune in front of a sold-out venue. I've got no shame. Those are the kind of people we're looking for."

The Do It For Durrett Foundation raises money for families impacted by sudden loss. This year's event will benefit the family of Julian Madison. Madison, who was known to many as a DJ for the Cowboys on rally days at AT&T Stadium, was studying for his PhD in counseling when he died suddenly last year at the age of 39. Madison and his wife Gabrielle were in the process of adopting two children. Gabrielle moved forward with the adoption of Alma (6) and King (2).

"He was a very giving person," Gabrielle Madison said. "When I say that, I mean he was giving of his time, his resources, his knowledge and his network. He did that all the time. He was very big into helping others. That's what I want my kids to know."

Tickets are available at doitfordurrett.com for $45. The general-admission ticket includes dinner as well as an event t-shirt. A limited number of VIP tickets for $125 are also available. Tables of eight can also be purchased for $350. There will also be a limited number of VIP tables for $850. All remaining tickets sold at the door will be $50. VIP tickets include early access to a Happy Hour, preferred seating as well as drink tickets at the event.

While the performances will be what people are talking about the next day, the auction once again is phenomenal. You can sit courtside with Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban, play ping pong against Mavericks head coach Rick Carlisle or take in the November race at Texas Motor Speedway in style.

The silent auction will feature one-of-a-kind memorabilia from some of the biggest names in baseball, football, basketball and hockey. Hall of Famer Craig Biggio, former Texas Rangers star Nelson Cruz, Mavericks superstar Chandler Parsons, Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton and Dallas Stars superstar Jamie Benn are just a few of the athletes' memorabilia that will be up for bid. There's a ticket package with the Frisco Roughriders that includes a swim in the Choctaw Lazy River. Casey Donahew, who performed at last year's event, will also have a ticket package in the auction.
