CHICAGO -- The Dodgers' troubles in their 5-0 elimination loss to the Cubs in Game 6 of the National League Championship Series on Saturday night started early, with an error by rookie left fielder Andrew Toles in the first inning.
Dexter Fowler's ground-rule double was cashed in by Kris Bryant's single, Anthony Rizzo sent an opposite-field line drive to the left-center gap. The speedy Toles ran it down, but at the last second lost the ball in the lights and dropped it for a two-base error that left runners on second and third. Ben Zobrist's sacrifice fly gave the Cubs a 2-0 lead.
Toles said the assumption by some that he took his eye off the ball to see where Bryant was on the bases was incorrect.

"No, it went up in the lights," said Toles, in only his second Wrigley Field start. "Like, Joc [Pederson, center fielder] was coming, but I couldn't hear him call it, so I looked out of my peripheral [vision] and when I looked back, it was in the lights."
Toles, who led off the game with a single only to be erased on a double play, summed up the feeling of committing an error on such a high-leverage stage.
"It wasn't good," he said. "I don't know, it's over now, so you can't do nothing about it. Just try not to do it in the future."
The Dodgers committed seven errors in the series to three for the Cubs, with six of the Cubs' runs unearned.
