New hires highlight Dodgers' 2016 training staff

January 27th, 2016

LOS ANGELES -- The Dodgers announced their 2016 physical training staff on Tuesday, including additions Neil Rampe as head athletic trainer and assistant athletic trainers Nathan Lucero and Thomas Albert.
They replace Stan Conte, Nancy Flynn and Chris Dunaway, who left after last season.
Returning in their same roles are strength and conditioning coach Brandon McDaniel, physical therapist Steve Smith and massage therapist Yosuke "Possum" Nakajima.
Rampe was the manual and performance therapist of the D-backs for the past eight years, making him another direct link to Dodgers current senior vice president of baseball operations Josh Byrnes, who was Arizona's general manager. Rampe had been the associate director of performance enhancement at the University of Arizona.
Lucero had been with the Houston Astros for 23 years, the last seven as head athletic trainer. Albert has been a rehab coordinator in Cleveland's organization for the last four years and also worked as an athletic trainer with the Harlem Globetrotters.
