PHOENIX -- The Dodgers went 0-for-11 with runners in scoring position Monday night and manager Dave Roberts talked about "a well-played game" he hoped would carry over.
Roberts apparently saw something in that one-run loss to Zack Greinke that didn't show up in the box score, as the Dodgers' offense did in fact rebound Tuesday night with a four-homer, 7-4 win over the D-backs, snapping a three-game losing streak to keep pace with first-place San Francisco.
Arizona slugger Paul Goldschmidt nearly maimed starter Kenta Maeda with a line drive off the leg and singled home one run, but the Dodgers kept him in the park. Meanwhile, Joc Pederson clubbed two homers and Chase Utley and Justin Turner hit one apiece, Utley's two-run shot giving him four RBIs and 999 runs scored in his career.

"[Monday] night's approach was good and it carried over to tonight," said Roberts. "Joc elevated two homers to the pull side and J.T. did the same thing and Chase got one left on left and that was good to see."
Maeda escaped serious injury (a lower right leg bruise), pitched well enough to get the win, and Kenley Jansen rebounded from his lost weekend in San Francisco with a three-strikeout save. That's No. 18 this year, leaving him only one shy of Eric Gagne's franchise record of 161.
"I just got to keep working harder," said Jansen. "Whenever that happens, just got to let it go. I get really angry when it happens, you guys can see it lately. Sometimes I just got to control myself when I get hit around."

Pederson has extra-base hits in five consecutive games and Turner in five of his past seven.
The Dodgers came into the game trailing San Francisco by six games, the largest deficit of the year, and had suffered three consecutive one-run losses. They trailed this game, 2-0, while being no-hit by Archie Bradley through 4 1/3 innings when Pederson launched his first home run. Bradley seemed rattled, walking Yasmani Grandal and Howie Kendrick, who scored on Utley's two-out single.
Arizona tied the game in the bottom of the fifth with an unearned run after Maeda's wild throw to first base, but Turner put the Dodgers up for good leading off the sixth with a 458-foot home run, per Statcast™, that Pederson followed two outs later with his second homer of the game and 11th of the year.
"We came up with some big hits," said Pederson. "J.T. looked good at the plate, Chase had some clutch hits, Howie, too. Trayce [Thompson] and Corey [Seager] have been carrying us basically the whole way. We had to come together and score some runs for our pitching staff."
