Crawford day to day with hamstring tightness

Dodgers left fielder says he doesn't think injury is serious

PHOENIX -- Outfielder Carl Crawford left Saturday night's 9-5 win over the D-backs in the fifth inning, the latest victim of the Dodgers' hamstring epidemic.

But he and manager Don Mattingly downplayed the severity of this injury, described as right-hamstring tightness, with an official listing of day to day. Crawford said he's had bad hamstring strains and considered this one minor. Left-hamstring strains put Crawford on the disabled list in 2011 and 2013.

"Just a little tightness," he said. "Don't think it's anything serious. I know when it's bad."

Mattingly said the suspicion is that Crawford had a cramp, perhaps from dehydration, and Crawford said he was given an IV after he felt the tightness making a running catch on a shallow fly ball by David Peralta to end the fourth inning with the bases loaded. He was lifted for a pinch-hitter in the top of the fifth inning.

Dodgers currently dealing with hamstring injuries are Yasiel Puig, Howie Kendrick and Kiké Hernandez. Jose Peraza just returned after missing several games with a tight hamstring. Alex Guerrero left Friday night's game with a tight upper calf muscle, but pinch-hit Saturday night.
