Frias returns to DL for back tightness

Right-hander lifted early from Triple-A start as precaution

LOS ANGELES -- The Dodgers voided the option of right-hander Carlos Frias from last week, and on Monday he was back on the disabled list with the Major League roster.

Retroactive to Aug. 2, Frias is on the DL with right lower back tightness. He was removed from his first start with Triple-A Oklahoma City on Wednesday after 10 pitches as a precaution.

Frias initially was placed on the DL on July 5 with the same lower back tightness.

He started the season in Oklahoma City, so this was to be one of his option years regardless, but Frias will now earn his Major League salary while on the DL.

Frias last pitched in the Majors on June 30, but his rotation spot has been filled by newcomers Mat Latos and Alex Wood.
