Utley boots ball, recovers to make unreal play

September 23rd, 2016

LOS ANGELES -- Dodgers second baseman made one of those "Are you kidding me?" plays to end the top of the fourth inning of Thursday night's 7-4 win over the Rockies.
After booting Colorado pitcher 's bouncer, Utley spun around and in one movement, with his back to first baseman as he fell face first, grabbed the ball barehanded and made a blind backward flip of the ball right into Gonzalez's glove.
"I botched the ball and knew I had to be fairly quick, wasn't quite sure because I had my back turned trying to find the ball and got lucky, to be honest with you," said Utley. "I did know where I was, or at least it looked like it, right? Pretty lucky, but we'll take it."
Earlier in the night, Utley was notified he had been voted winner of the club's 2016 Roy Campanella Award by teammates.
"The legacy of Chase continues to grow," said manager Dave Roberts. "He does so many things so well."
