Seager needs final push to overtake SS race

LOS ANGELES -- fans have only until Thursday night to make one final voting push and get the Dodgers' shortstop into the National League starting lineup for the MLB All-Star Game presented by Mastercard.
In the most recent update released on Monday, Seager trailed Cincinnati's Zack Cozart by 258,074 votes on the Esurance MLB All-Star Game Ballot. Cozart overtook Seager two weeks ago.

Fans may cast votes for starters at MLB.com and all 30 club sites -- on computers, tablets and smartphones -- exclusively online using the 2017 Esurance MLB All-Star Game Ballot until Thursday at 8:59 p.m. PT. On smartphones and tablets, fans can also access the ballot via the MLB.com At Bat and MLB.com Ballpark mobile apps.
The Esurance All-Star Selection Show will take place on Sunday at 4 p.m. PT on ESPN. Following the unveiling of the 2017 All-Star starters, reserves and pitchers, fans should return to MLB.com and cast their 2017 Esurance MLB All-Star Game Final Vote for the final player on each league's All-Star roster. Then on Tuesday, July 11, while watching the 2017 All-Star Game presented by Mastercard live on FOX, fans may visit MLB.com to submit their choices for the Ted Williams Most Valuable Player Award presented by Chevrolet with the 2017 MLB All-Star Game MVP Vote.
The 88th Midsummer Classic, at Marlins Park in Miami, will be televised nationally by FOX Sports; in Canada by Rogers Sportsnet and RDS; and worldwide by partners in more than 160 countries. Seager, who missed the last two games with a mild right hamstring strain, entered Monday batting .298 with 12 homers and 39 RBIs. In his last 13 games, he is hitting .426 with 14 RBIs. He leads the Dodgers with 24 multihit games and 19 doubles.
Seager leads Cozart in games played, plate appearances, runs scored, doubles, home runs, RBIs, walks, and stolen bases.
A unanimous pick as the 2016 NL Rookie of the Year, Seager also was an All-Star last year. He would become the club's first starting All-Star shortstop since Bill Russell in 1980, the last time Dodger Stadium hosted an All-Star Game.
In voting for Dodgers at other positions, third baseman is third, catcher is fourth, second baseman is fifth and outfielder is 12th.
