TORONTO -- Dodgers manager Dave Roberts is determined to give Adrian Gonzalez a break Sunday and use him as designated hitter, which will leave him with a tough call at first base.
"It might be [Justin Turner], it might be Chase [Utley]," Roberts said. "Yasmani [Grandal] will catch."
Roberts said Sunday's lineup points out how much the Dodgers miss Scott Van Slyke, who would be the obvious choice for first base to spell Gonzalez if he wasn't on the disabled list with a bulging disk in his back.
Toronto's right-handed-heavy lineup, Roberts said, lends itself to Turner as the likely third baseman with Utley at first base and Howie Kendrick at second. Kendrick already has started at second base, left field and designated hitter in the first four games of this trip.
