Gonzalez, Seager need All-Star voting boost

June 23rd, 2016

LOS ANGELES -- With nine days left to vote, Adrian Gonzalez remains among the top five in voting at first base while rookie Corey Seager has moved into the third position at shortstop.
Seager leads all qualified Dodgers in batting average (.283) and slugging percentage (.505), while also holding the team's highest totals in runs, RBIs, doubles and home runs. Among National League shortstops, he's tops in hits and home runs.

With 703,230 votes, Seager is behind only Chicago's Addison Russell (1,489,998 votes) and Colorado's Trevor Story (1,110,002), a fellow rookie. While a large margin remains for Seager to make up, he has at least moved ahead the rival Giants' Brandon Crawford, who came in just behind in fourth with 692,640 votes.
"It's one of those of things where you can't really think about it, you still got to play a game that night," Seager said. "Can't really think about the nine days left until that. You just play, and if it's there, it's awesome. You celebrate it, it's a huge time for your family. It was a lot of fun watching my brother [Mariners third baseman Kyle Seager] a couple years ago."
Gonzalez leads the team in on-base percentage with a .348 mark. With 577,666 votes, he's behind Paul Goldschmidt, Brandon Belt, and leading NL vote-getter Anthony Rizzo.
