LOS ANGELES -- The Dodgers placed on the 10-day disabled list Tuesday with a left foot contusion and recalled righty from Triple-A Oklahoma City, manager Dave Roberts said.
Ryu took a liner off his left foot in the fourth inning of the Dodgers' 3-2 loss in Anaheim against the Angels on June 28, but he continued to pitch into the sixth inning before being removed from the game after giving up a two-run home to .
The lefty had his left foot scanned on Monday, the results of which came back negative, but Roberts said Ryu could be out longer than 10 days and will throw a simulated game before he returns.
"Hyun-Jin is in the clear," Roberts said. "But he's still sore with playing catch with that we just thought it was responsible to put him on the disabled list and get him back at some point soon."
Ryu, who is 3-6 with a 4.21 ERA and a save in a relief appearance, has dealt with elbow and shoulder injuries the last two seasons. Stripling is 0-3 with a 4.03 ERA and has appeared in 22 games.
Worth noting
is scheduled to make his return from the DL on Saturday, Roberts said. McCarthy was put on the DL with a knee injury after he had trouble with his command when he threw three wild pitches in his last start against the Rockies. The righty threw four innings in a simulated game at Class A Rancho Cucamonga and felt "good," Roberts said.
still has a few ways to go before returning from the DL. The Dodgers originally hoped for Gonzalez to be healthy before the All-Star break after he landed on the DL with lower back discomfort on June 23.
"He's moving around, but there's got to be some baseball progression and he's not close," Roberts said.
