LOS ANGELES -- Hyun-Jin Ryu took another step toward rejoining the Dodgers, making his third Minor League rehab start on Wednesday.
Ryu tossed four scoreless innings for Triple-A Oklahoma City against the Astros' Triple-A affiliate in Fresno, Calif. The lefty allowed just four hits with no walks and three strikeouts and made 55 pitches, 40 of them for strikes.
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts, speaking from Dodger Stadium before the series finale against the Reds, said Ryu's velocity touched 89 mph and that he made 10 pitches on the side after exiting the game.
Ryu will make two more rehab appearances, building his pitch count up to 100 as he recovers from May 2015 left shoulder surgery.
"[He had] good command, breaking ball was good," Roberts said. "In five days, he'll be ready to do it again."
Ryu hasn't pitched for the Dodgers outside of exhibitions since he started Game 3 of the 2014 National League Division Series against the Cardinals. This rehab stint is his first game action since March 17, 2015, in the Cactus League.
In his previous two outings -- both with Class A Advanced Rancho Cucamonga -- Ryu allowed three runs (one earned) over five total innings.
